the boy said. “My orders are to command you to read. If you
are not able to do it,” the robot said, “there is something
wrong with your electronic circuits. I will take you to the laboratory
for repairs.” “Don’t let them!” Greg cried
suddenly. “They will take you apart. You will die!”
The robot turned expressionless eyes on the man. “When a robot
cannot read CenPress, he is not operating properly. He must be repaired
or destroyed. That is the rule.” Greg pleaded, “Just
pump more electricity in his eye socket. That always worked for
grandpa.”
